The idea
The idea behind establishing the first International School on Soul Studies arose from a profound and irresistible need—to explore the Soul, its essence, qualities, and dynamics, and to uncover its deeper meanings. Our purpose is to respond to the timeless mysteries and most profound spiritual inquiries of the human journey.
The School delves into the motifs of the Soul’s Journey—what Socrates described as humanity’s essential task: to reflect on the nature of existence, from birth to the end of earthly life, to contemplate the possibility of life beyond death, and to seek the truest meaning of our personal path.
These are questions that all sensitive human beings encounter at least once in their lives—especially in times of profound transformation and transition, such as the crisis of our present age. This moment calls for courageous inquiry and visionary interpretations—spanning the political, collective, cultural, and individual dimensions of human experience
The School is fully operational in Italian language and we are developing our offer for English speaking students to start in 2027
Who can apply
The School’s programs are designed for individuals seeking to develop tools for interpreting and deeply understanding both their personal existential experiences and the broader reality in which we live.
Applicants considered for admission need to have completed at least a postgraduate degree in any field—particularly, though not exclusively, in the social or human sciences; and can include both clinically and non-clinically trained professionals. Exceptions can be made on a case-by-case basis

Didactic Modalities – General
Didactic modalities include personal sessions, thematic conversations, small group thematic conversations and seminars, special initiatives and events, most of which are held both in person and online. Group meetings are purposefully kept small to enable deeper analysis and create an intimate setting where everyone is invited to safely share views
These modalities can be combined toward:
• Open Pathways that are personalized (to be discussed with the School). These pathways are meant for students to deepen current work, analysis and learning, creating a fertile and heartfelt environment for Individuation and the acquisition of tools and advanced knowledge to better interpret and address the requirements of existential journeys including at critical junctures
• Training toward becoming a Philosopher Analyst and Jung Hillman Archetypal Psychoanalysis Association (JHAPA) Psychoanalyst, for those who are the above plus a more focused academic and professional track
Didactic modalities are organized in four levels:
a) Individual sessions: Individual 1:1 meetings between the analyst and the student (the “analysand”), one analytical hour long (45min-1h) held on a regular basis
b) Group meetings – Archetypal Courses and Seminars: Small group courses and seminars on analytical, archetypal, philosophical and spiritual themes and traditions
c) Group meetings – Socratic Circles: Small group meetings structured as “conversations on philosophical themes” proposed by the group leader (the analyst) or by a group member, carried out using our Self-Philosophy School analytical and archetypal tools
d) Asynchronous courses (under development): On-demand lectures for students to reflect on and discuss in individual or group sessions
Didactic modalities – Training as Philosopher Analyst and JHAPA Archetypal Psychoanalyst
The School offers full training toward the professional figure of Philosopher Analyst and JHAPA (Jung Hillman Archetypal Psychoanalysis Association) Archetypal Psychoanalyst (also intended as Archetypal and Depth Analyst, Analyst for Individuation, Existential Consultant, Soul Counsellor, Professional Confidant, Professional of the “Know Thyself”)
Please note that:
– the Philosopher Analyst is a professional figure formally recognized by the Italian Ministry of Economic Development through the Philosopher Analysts Association “Noûs”
– the JHAPA Archetypal Psychoanalyst is a professional figure that JHAPA members (from both lay or clinical backgrounds) are eligible to when completing training at the School, according to the requirements described below
– the JHAPA Archetypal Psychotherapist recognition is available through the Symbolon Institute, School of Archetypal and Analytical Psychotherapy, accredited by the Ministry of University and Research of Italy, delivering courses in Italian. This recognition is granted to previously trained clinical professionals (e.g., psychologists, psychotherapists, psychiatrists, counsellors and clinical social workers). Any potential equivalence in other jurisdictions needs to be investigated by the prospective student
Didactic modalities – Open Pathways
“Open Pathways” can be personalized based on each student’s needs—either as continuing education (e.g. for students or professionals with a clinical background) or for personal interest. A certificate of completion may be issued upon request.
Please note that, as part of Open Pathways, individual sessions, group meetings and courses taken can be accrued to count toward training as Philosopher Analyst and JHAPA Archetypal Psychoanalyst, if the student were to enroll at a later stage, according to the requirements described below. Open Pathway courses are selected amongst those offered in the calendar designed for annual training.

School Requirements toward becoming a
Philosopher Analyst and JHAPA Archetypal Psychoanalyst
Duration: full training takes at least four years to complete. Open pathways can vary in duration, depending on the number of individual sessions, selected courses and Socratic circles
Individual analysis: an average of 40 analytical hours on a weekly/ biweekly basis per year
Group meetings: two-hour long, weekly courses and philosophical discussion (Socratic) circles. Students in training are required to participate according to the annual Calendar breaking around European summer and end-of year holidays

Please note that training requires a marked sensitivity for psychoanalytic, archetypal and philosophic approaches and a genuine curiosity toward various fields of existence. The analyst and instructor’s consent is needed for the release of a certification of pathway completion or recognition as Philosopher Analyst and JHAPA Archetypal Psychoanalyst, following the evaluation of the student’s background, vocation and inclination for the profession, participation and dedicated effort
Didactic modalities – More detail
Training and Open Pathways been developed in a way completely innovative and original when compared to contemporary academic criteria, finding its source and inspiration in training pathways of philosophical schools of antiquity, even preceding the Greek schools. The didactic methodology takes inspiration from the direct Master-Disciple relationship, which, from our viewpoint, is the most fruitful and fundamental for this type of training.
Throughout training as well as open pathways that are longer term, students’ progress is constantly reviewed and evaluated, aiming at a “concrete” education and philosophical growth that comes from doing regular “soulwork”. There are no final exams or dissertations.
However, prior to termination of annual training as Philosopher Analyst or longer
Open Pathways, candidates are required to produce a project (written, artistic or multimedial) along with an oral presentation, focused on an archetypal theme chosen by the candidate in agreement with the analyst/instructor. Optional mid-year projects are encouraged
